Shelter Volunteers Needed
Interfaith Action of Evanston is seeking volunteers to help operate its Overnight Shelter, which is open every night from 9 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. at varying locations in downtown Evanston. Evening volunteers arrive at 8:30 p.m. to set up cots, prepare rooms and greet guests as they arrive, distributing blankets and water until 10 p.m. Early morning volunteers arrive at 6 a.m. to help wake guests and ensure they leave the facility on time, assisting in gathering of sheets and blankets for laundry pickup. They work until 7 a.m.
Training is available for any volunteer. The shelter operates seven days a week through most of May. For further information or to volunteer, contact Sue Berube at iae@interfaithactionofevanston.org.
