Advocacy

Interfaith Action of Evanston seeks to address the systemic problems that contribute to homelessness and hunger. Specifically, we monitor city policies and proposals that may affect the well-being of individuals who are either homeless or hungry or whose housing and food resources may be insecure. More broadly, we seek to:

  • Educate IAE's membership and the broader community about the root causes of and issues surrounding homelessness and hunger
  • Leverage the membership to create a voice that calls for desired changes
  • Use that voice to effect political, economic, and community change

OUR COMMITMENT TO ANTI-RACISM

We are committed combating the institutional racism that exacerbates hunger and homelessness. To that end, we are addressing the following:

  1. Are our programs functioning to support the humanity of all our guests?
  2. How can we use white privilege to confront the institutional and community biases that hurt our guests?
  3. What are we doing to recruit a diverse board and staff?
