Pancake Dinner to Benefit Global Refuge

Trinity Lutheran Church in Evanston, is hosting a festive Mardi Gras Pancake Dinner on Tuesday, March 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., to raise money to support Global Refuge in its work caring for legal immigrants.

Funds for legal immigration were abruptly and completely cut off by the federal government in late January, stranding hundreds of new immigrant families without the funding and support they had been promised for 90 days after their arrival. Non-profit groups, such as Global Refuge, which support those immigrants with jobs, housing, English classes and more lost all their federal funding as well and now struggle to support the new arrivals based on private donations alone. All proceeds from this event will go directly to Global Refuge to fund its ongoing support of legal immigrants.

The Trinity Pancake Dinner on what is traditionally known as Fat Tuesday is a family-friendly event that will feature an all-you-can-eat pancake buffet with toppings, sausages and beverages, for a suggested donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child. The event will take place in the Fellowship Hall in the lower level of the church building.
