Interfaith Dialogue Gathering

WHERE
First Congregational Church Community Center Guild Room, 1417 Hinman Ave. in Evanston, IL
START DATE

On May 1, 2024 four different interfaith dialogue groups will come together to discuss significant issues of our time, including hunger/homelessness, racial justice and equity, climate change and justice and refugees/immigration. The event, held by Interfaith Action of Evanston, will take place at the First Congregational Church Community Center Guild Room, 1417 Hinman Ave. in Evanston starting at 7 p.m.

The four issues are currently being discussed by four different interfaith dialogue groups, many of which started during the pandemic. Each will be represented in a panel discussion to be moderated by Jackie Eddy of Northminster Presbyterian Church. IAE delegates are encouraged to attend, either in person or via Zoom to the 75-minute discussion.

Melissa Appelt, IAE Board Chair and a member of First United Methodist Church, will represent the homelessness/hunger dialogue group, while Kathleen Murphy and Steve Haviland of St. Luke’s Episcopal and Lake Street Church respectively, will represent racial justice and equity. Paula Scholl of First United Methodist Church and Martha Meyer of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will represent climate change and justice and Margaret Feit Clarke of St. John XXIII Parish will represent the refugees and immigration dialogue group.

This panel discussion represents an opportunity both for members of the faith communities that comprise Interfaith Action of Evanston to learn more about the work being done and that being advocated on these significant issues within the Evanston community.
